Upconverting - Process by which a standard definition picture is changed to a simulated high-definition picture.
DTH - Direct-to-Home satellite delivery. May also be called DBS or Direct broadcast satellite. In Canada, Bell ExpressVu and Star Choice provide DTH services in both HDTV and SDTV.
Stream - To send data on a network, such as the Internet, in such a way as to provide or simulate real-time delivery of video and/or audio.
Symbol rate - The symbol rate for ATSC is 10.76 million symbols/sec. 8VSB has 3 bits/symbol. After the error correction bits are removed the net - transfer rate is 19.28 million bits/sec.
HDTV - (High Definition TV) - A TV that displays 1280x720 pixels or better.
SVGA - This acronym is short for the "Super Video Graphics Array" display mode. SVGA resolution is 800 x 600 pixels.
EDTV - Enhanced Definition Television. A term defining a television that displays the picture (either from SDTV or HDTV) at a resolution of 480p lines in either 4 - 3 or 16 - 9 aspect ratio and which includes Dolby Digital AC-3 multichannel sound.
