Analog Video - The conventional NTSC television system in use today uses analog technology, in which the image sound and the picture brightness and color are represented by signals proportional to these values. Line Doublers - This device converts NTSC or 480i into 480p. Line doublers with motion-adaptive processing can to an extent turn a 30 frames/sec image into a 60 frames/sec image, thus removing some of the jerkiness and blurriness associated with motion.
Dolby Digital 2.0 - This is a two channel (stereo or Pro Logic) version of Dolby Digital. It is often used by DBS systems.
Compression - Compression refers to the reduction of the size of digital data files by removing redundant and/or non-critical information ("data" being the elements of video, audio and other "information"). Digital TV in the U.S. would not be possible without compression.
Pixel - A picture element; a single displayable video dot. HDTV requires from 1 to 2 million pixels in the display for full resolution images to be shown.
Pixel - Pixel is actually two words jammed together _ picture and element. A pixel is a tiny sample of video information, the "little squares" that make up an overall picture.
HDCP - (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) - This is a DVI decryption option. It will decode encrypted programs such as first-run movies. (Its real function is to prevent unauthorized copying of programs.)
