If you want the simplicity that comes with the cable receiver being integrated with the TV then you should buy a TV with a cable card slot. However if you like TiVo then you would instead get a DVR, which will have its own cable card slot.
Set-top box (STB) - A box, similar to the familiar cable box, that is capable of receiving, decoding and sending to the associated television the picture and sound of the selected DTV broadcast. PDP displays up to 160 cm (63in.) are available, making them suitable for the home theatre.
STB - (Set Top Box) - These include satellite receivers, cable TV receivers, OTA receivers, and various recording devices.
Composite Video - An analog video signal (NTSC, PAL or SECAM) that includes both luminance (brightness) and chrominance (color) signals encoded together to form a single signal.
